The Malaysian Journal of Fundamental and Applied Sciences (Volume 22, Issue 5, 2026) showcases advances in computational biology, natural product pharmacology, phytomedicine, and targeted drug discovery. Key findings elucidate the multi-target anti-inflammatory potential of Momordica charantia (bitter gourd) bioactive compounds through an integrative framework of ADMET profiling, network pharmacology, and molecular docking. The study prioritizes core charantin metabolites specifically beta-sitosterol glucoside (BSG) and stigmasterol glucoside (SG) as potent modulators with strong binding affinities toward key inflammatory targets, including NOS3, EGFR, PPARG, and IGF1R. Mechanistic insights further reveal their capacity to regulate pivotal signaling pathways such as PI3K–Akt, IL-17, HIF-1, and FoxO, establishing a structural foundation for the development of evidence-based natural phytopharmaceuticals for chronic inflammatory conditions.
